The DALI devices on a line will respond to DALI broadcast commands without commissioning, allowing for out of the box control of the DALI devices. During the commissioning stage, the installer can set up the following: groups, scenes, min and max levels, power on levels, system failure level, fade rate and fade time for each device.

Each DALI device on a line requires an address to respond to individual commands. To perform either form of addressing, the installer will require a DALI addressing tool. Please contact Evolt for more information.

The DALI standard allows for two forms of addressing:

Involves the automatic assignment of random addresses to each DALI device on the line. After the addresses have been assigned, the installer can reassign addresses to the devices via the DALI addressing tool.

Requires the installer to physically inspect each device to allocate an address.
